Vietnam is a Southeast Asian Country with the relevance of Buddhist pagodas and French colonials’ buildings. It is known for its ancient history, diverse culture, and natural landscapes. Vietnam is also famous for the Vietnam war history museum.
1. Myson Sanctuary of Vietnam (aka Mison)
My son is one of the fascinating temple ruins dedicated to Hinduism which depicts the culture of SouthEast Asia. It is one of the World Heritage Sites located near the Thu Bon river. This sanctuary is surrounded by mountains in the Duy Xuyen District of Quang Nam Provinces in Central Vietnam. It was considered as a battlefield during the Vietnam war which reveals the damaging of the sanctuary.
2. Phuoc Lam Pagoda In Vietnam
Another structure is Phuoc Lam Pagoda located in Cam Ha Ward, Hoi An Town, of Quang Nam Province. It is considered as part of the Buddhism sect, belonging to a Buddhist monk named Lam Te-Chuc Thanh. The structure is built in an Asian architectural style which consists of 3 chambers, 2 lean Los, and 2 bell towers. Phuoc Lam Pagoda is an architectural marvel in Vietnam that served as a training center for Buddhist monks before the war.
3. The Complex Of Hue Monuments
These monuments are part of Hue City in Central Vietnam, founded by Gia Long, located in Thua Thien Hue Provinces. The city is surrounded by the essence of running the Perfume River and Ngu Binh mountains which gives the natural setting of the site. It is considered a remarkable example of the planning and construction of a capital city that includes many royal palaces, fortresses, and Hue Citadel in the center.
4. Pagoda Of The Celestial Body
Also known as Thien Mu Pagoda located on Ha Khe Hill, to the left of Perfume River. It is also the part of Hue City Monuments that was built in 1601 under the Nguyen Hoang Lord reign. The shape of the structure is octagonal, made of bricks, and each floor adores one Buddha as a part of Vietnam Buddhism. This structure including the pagodas is known to be the biggest construction in history.
5. Tomb Of Khai Dinh In Vietnam
Located on the Chau Chu mountain, built by the Khai Dinh. It took 11 years to build this structure (1920-1931) and is a blend of Eastern and Western architecture. It is a home of an imperial audience court with intricately designed glass and porcelain decoration on walls and ceilings.
The structure is called to be Gothic from the outside and colorful mosaic from the inside.
6. Sung Sot Cave Of Vietnam
Located on Bo Hon Island in the center of Halong Bay. This cave was discovered by the French in 1901. It covers an area of 10,000 square meters with a 30-meter-high and 500-meter-long passage. You will be fascinated by the intriguing interior of the cave which is distributed with stalactites and stalagmites.
7. Hoi An
Hoi An is a city on Vietnam’s central coast which is a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port. It reflects the influence of foreign culture on its buildings and street plans. The city is a blend of both local and foreign highlighting its diverse nature. Hoi An is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and four museums depicting the history of the region.
8. Wooden Church Of Kon Tum
Wooden Church of Kon Tum is located on Nguyen Hue Street of Kon Tum City, known for its unique architecture of wooden materials. It was built from 1913-1918 and a remarkable combination of Roman and Gothic features, blending with the traditional style of the Central Highland of Vietnam.
9. Cat Ba Island In Vietnam
Cat Ba island is a combination of 367 islands and known as the biggest island in Vietnam. It is approximately 32 miles away from Hai Phong. This island aims to protect biodiversity and sketches the unique landscaping pattern. Floating Houses are another feature of this island.
10. Bai Dinh Temple Of Vietnam
Bai Dinh Temple is located in Ninh Binh Province in Vietnam. It is Southeast Asia’s largest Buddhist complex with 500 intricately carved statues of Buddha which are made of bronze and the height is 10 meters. This temple covers an area of 7 million square meters with a tall pagoda of 13 stories. Most of the materials used here are from local handicraft villages.
11. Quan Cong Temple
Quan Cong Temple was founded in 1653, dedicated to Quan Van Truong who was a Chinese general. There is a statue of him made of paper mâché on a wooden frame in the center of the temple. It is located in Hoi An and sketches the combination of typical Chinese and Vietnamese artisans.
This temple preserves a lot of valuable antiques like lacquered boards engraved with Chinese characters.
12. Temple Of Literature, Hanoi
This temple was initially built as a university in 1070 dedicated to Confucius, scholars, and sages. Temple of Literature is a superb example of a traditional style of Vietnamese architecture. You will find immaculate gardens that are rich in ancient trees. This temple consists of five courtyards and nowadays known as Vietnam’s Imperial Academy.
13. Hang NGA’S Guesthouse
Located in Da Lat Vietnam and also known as “Crazy House”. It is designed by an architect named Dang Viet Nga and acknowledged as inspiration from Antoni Gaudi. This guesthouse is described as a fairy tale house with a nonlinear organic shape, decorated with stone throughout. You will find the resemblance of tunnels and caves with stairways and hallways.
14. Da Nang
Da Nang is the 5th largest city in Vietnam. This city is designed as a first-class city for the commercial and educational center in Central Vietnam. It has a higher urbanization ratio with a good mix of old pagodas, French colonial buildings, and verdant national parks.
15. Hanoi
Hanoi is one of the most ancient capitals in the world, located on the banks of the Red River. The city explores the foot of a multicultural community with a combination of Chinese, French, and Russian influence. Many old monuments and palaces have been destroyed during the war but the city preserves the remaining historical significance.
