BLP’s commitment to innovative, patient-focused design for a healthy world, coupled with their inclusive approach to interiors and the arts, has earned them acclaim in the healthcare sector. The Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment project, celebrated for its visionary design and patient-centric spaces, integrates six-storeys of mental health services with thoughtful incorporation of art as a healing environment. One of the first facilities of its type in Australia to unify mental health services with mainstream health provision, it is a major hub for mental healthcare in the Macarthur and wider South Western Sydney region.
“We are honoured and extremely proud to receive these awards. Being recognised on the world stage further solidifies our team’s unwavering dedication to creating inclusive, functional, and healing spaces that positively impact patient care,” said Tara Veldman, Managing Director, BLP. “We sincerely thank the European Healthcare Design committee for recognising our commitment and the team at Campbelltown Hospital for entrusting us with such a pivotal project in Greater Western Sydney.”
BLP worked closely with the local Dharawal community, artists, and designers to provide a visually uplifting and comforting environment for patients, visitors, staff and the community. The Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment project is a remarkable example of how interior design and the arts can enhance healthcare settings.
The European Healthcare Design Awards laud top-tier design projects that demonstrate exceptional creativity and innovation in the healthcare industry. BLP’s dual recognition for the Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment solidifies their global reputation for excellence in healthcare design and architecture.
Veldman added, “These awards are a validation of our belief in design’s power to enhance mental well-being and healing. Our work at Campbelltown Hospital underscores our mission to create patient-centred environments conducive to inclusion, recovery, resilience, and accessibility.”
The project was realised through the dedication of the wider team from Health Infrastructure NSW, the Local Health District, Campbelltown Arts Centre, CPB Contractors, and contributing artists, Nicole Monks & Dr Erica Seccombe.
The Royal Children’s Hospital designed by BLP and Bates Smart also received recognition at the award ceremony, earning a High Commendation in the Design for Sustainable Development category.
